A front extending from the Great Lakes to the Middle Mississippi Valley and then across parts of the Southern Plains will move eastward to just off the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast, across the Southeast to the Gulf Coast States by Sunday. Showers and severe thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valley. Therefore, the SPC has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valley through Saturday morning. The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes. On Saturday, as the front moves eastward, strong to severe thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Showers and thunderstorms will also develop over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys, Lower Mississippi Valley, and into the Southern Plains. In addition, a weak front lingering over Florida will produce showers and thunderstorms through Sunday. Moreover, monsoonal moisture, diurnal heating, and upper-level impulses will produce showers and thunderstorms over Southern California, the Southwest, the Great Basin, and the Central/Southern Rockies through Saturday morning. On Saturday, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Interior Northwest/Northern Intermountain Region, Great Basin, Southwest, and Central/Southern Rockies. Overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Southern Plains. Furthermore, smoke from wildfires has prompted Air Quality Alerts over parts of the Northwest and Northern/Central High Plains.
