Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 238 PM EDT Sun Sep 28 2025 Valid 00Z Mon Sep 29 2025 - 00Z Wed Oct 01 2025 ...There is a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Southwest and Southern Rockies on Sunday... ...There is a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Southeast Coast on Monday and Tuesday... A weakening upper-level low over the Southwest moves northeastward to the Central Rockies, streaming moisture over parts of the Southwest/Southern Rockies, and dissipates by Monday afternoon. Moisture and upper-level energy will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall over the region. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of excessive rainfall over the Southwest and Southern Rockies through Monday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, small streams, and low-lying areas the most vulnerable. The rain ends by Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, tropical moisture will pool along a stationary front over the Southeast Coast, producing showers and thunderstorms along the Southeast Coast on Sunday evening. Overnight Sunday, moisture flow increases over the Southeast Coast, producing showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of excessive rainfall over parts of the Southeast through Tuesday. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, small streams, and low-lying areas the most vulnerable. Tropical Storm IMELDA will move northward over the Bahamas and then move eastward by Tuesday, moving away from the U.S. Coast.
