Probabilistic Heavy Snow and Icing Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 359 PM EDT Sun May 12 2019 Valid 00Z Mon May 13 2019 - 00Z Thu May 16 2019 ...Northeast... A closed upper low with anomalously low heights is expected to support some late season high elevation snows across portions of the Northeast. Rain changing to snow can be expected above about 2000ft in the Catskills, Adirondacks, Green and White Mtns Monday night through Tuesday as a closed low producing 500mb heights 1 to 1.5 standard deviations below normal moves east from the Great Lakes into the Northeast. Greatest potential for significant accumulations centers along the northern White Mountains, including the Presidential Range, where Day 2 WPC probabilities are moderate for accumulations of 6 inches or more on Day 2 (ending 00Z Wednesday). As the coastal low develops over the Gulf of Maine and lifts to Nova Scotia, precipitation is expected to continue across northern New England, with additional snows likely on the back side of the system for portions of the northern White Mountains and northern Maine, especially Tuesday night into Wednesday. The probability of significant icing is less than 10 percent. Jackson
