An occluded cyclone over southeastern ND will shift northeast across northern MN today. Locally heavy snow in a pivoting deformation bands on the west side over western ND/SD with hourly rates around 1" will slowly taper off this morning as the system pulls away. Day 1 snow probabilities for snowfall after 12Z focuses low probabilities for over 4" in northeastern ND/northwestern MN where banding immediately adjacent to the low center will continue to transition to snow through the rest of the morning. ...Colorado... Day 1... A shortwave trough to the southwest of the cyclone approaching MN will shear through Colorado today into early Monday. Enough moisture will be present to wring out several inches of snow over the higher terrain of central CO down through the CO side of the Sangre de Cristos. Day 1 probabilities for over 6" are moderate over central CO with low probabilities farther southeast over the Sangre de Christos with snow levels across the stated around 7000ft. ...Pacific Northwest... Day 3... Upper low shifting southeast from the Gulf of Alaska will reach Vancouver Island Tuesday. A leading cold front and a weak surge of moisture reaches Washington and Oregon Monday. However, the snow levels will be 5000-7000ft in prefrontal precip, so it's not until Tuesday when appreciable moisture in the colder sector comes ashore with snow levels below 4000ft. Day 3 snow probabilities for over 6" are low over the WA Cascades and the Blue Mountains in northeastern Oregon and the Clearwater Mountains of ID.
