Probabilistic Heavy Snow and Icing Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 430 PM EDT Thu Oct 03 2019 Valid 00Z Fri Oct 04 2019 - 00Z Mon Oct 07 2019 ...Northwestern U.S.... A trough currently just off the Pacific Northwest coast will shift east; crossing the northern Rockies Friday night. Snow elevations around 5000ft will prevail through this event across the northwestern CONUS. The combination of modest Pacific moisture and strong lift from the trough will promote heavy snow on the higher Cascades tonight into Friday. Some Gulf of Mexico sourced moisture reaches the northern Rockies Friday, allowing the heaviest snow to occur in around a 12 hour window ahead of trough axis for higher terrain in ID Friday morning into MT and WY then through Friday night. Probabilities for over six inches are best on the western side of the Lewis Range and in the Absarokas, Tetons, and Bighorn Mtns. ...Northern New England... Low pressure currently shifting east from Lake Superior will cross northern New England late tonight. Light snow accumulation is expected late tonight for higher elevations of interior Northern New England; the first snowfall of the season. Jackson
