Probabilistic Heavy Snow and Icing Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 320 PM EST Tue Jan 28 2020 Valid 00Z Wed Jan 29 2020 - 00Z Sat Feb 01 2020 Days 1-3... ...Western U.S.... A shortwave trough digging southeast from the Pacific Northwest Tuesday evening, into the Southwest on Wednesday, is expected to produce widespread, but generally light precipitation from the Pacific Northwest to the Rockies and Southwest. While widespread heavy snow accumulations are not expected, some locally heavy amounts are possible, including along the northern Cascades. An upstream system is expected to bring another round of generally light precipitation across the Northwest, northern Rockies and High Plains late Wednesday and Thursday. As with the previous system, widespread heavy amounts are not expected. A warm front lifting north along the Washington coast Thursday evening will bring another round of organized heavier amounts to western Washington. However, with snow levels on the rise, heavy accumulations will be mainly confined to the higher elevations of the northern Cascades. For Days 1-3, the probability of significant icing (0.25-inch or greater) is less than 10 percent. Pereira
