Probabilistic Heavy Snow and Icing Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 400 AM EST Sat Mar 07 2020 Valid 12Z Sat Mar 07 2020 - 12Z Tue Mar 10 2020 Days 1-3... ...Western U.S.... A front associated with a weakening upper level trough will move south and east, bringing light to moderate mountain snows to portions of the northern Rockies, Intermountain West, southern Cascades and northern Sierra on Saturday. WPC PWPF indicates some potential for locally heavy amounts of 8-inches or more from the Shasta-Siskiyou region into the northern Sierra on Saturday. Sunday is expected to relatively quiet, with mainly light snows expected across portions of the Sierra and the northern to central Rockies. Some heavier snows may return to portions of the northern Rockies on Monday, particularly the western Wyoming ranges. WPC PWPF shows probabilities for amounts of 8-inches or more increasing on Monday across the higher elevations as a low-to-mid level boundary associated with an approaching upper trough settles into the region. For Days 1-3, the probability of significant icing (0.25-inch or greater) is less than 10 percent. Pereira
