Detailed Summary: An roughly east-west front will be across parts of the Plains/Mississippi Valley on Thursday into Monday. Moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will stream northward over the Plains/Mississippi Valley pooling along the front as the boundary moves southward to the Central Gulf Coast by Sunday. Heavy rain will develop along and near the front from Thursday into Saturday over parts of the Southern Plains into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley. As the boundary continues to sag southward, an area of heavy rain might develop over parts of the Western/Central Gulf Coast on Monday. Upper-level ridging over the eastern third of the country will aid in producing maximum temperatures at or near 12 degrees above average over Central/Southern Virginia on Thursday into Friday. The temperatures will be warm over the region but the area of 12 degrees or higher would be very small on the hazards map. This area will need to be watched to see if the temperatures will high enough or over a large enough area to draw an area of much above normal temperatures on Thursday and Friday. No hazards are forecast over Alaska at this point in time. Ziegenfelder
