US Day 3-7 Hazards Outlook NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 307 PM EDT Tue May 28 2019 Valid Friday May 31 2019 - Tuesday June 04 2019 Hazards: - Flooding possible across portions of the Central/Northern Plains, the Northern Great Basin, the Middle/Upper Mississippi Valley, and the Great Lakes. - Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Great Plains, the Mississippi Valley, the Great Lakes, the Northern Rockies, and the Ohio Valley. - Flooding likely across portions of the Central/Northern Plains, the Middle/Upper Mississippi Valley, and the Northern Rockies. Detailed Summary: A shift in the weather pattern during the medium-range period will support temperatures closer to normal and more scattered rainfall. The heat in the Southeast will ease a bit from record levels and shift westward into the Lower Mississippi Valley this weekend into next week, so very warm/hot conditions will continue but at levels below hazardous thresholds. Rainfall will become less focused and driven by weaker dynamics (more typical of summer). Though soil moisture remains well above normal and close to record levels, uncertainty in placement/duration/amount of rainfall precludes a drawn risk of heavy rain on the map. Expect some heavy rain to occur in the Southern Plains into the Mid-Mississippi Valley next week near a frontal boundary but this will be refined over the next few days. River flooding is expected to continue through the period as the tributaries continue to carry water into and through the main stems. No hazards were depicted for Alaska as a system moves through the southern Gulf of Alaska next week, keeping most of the rainfall over the ocean but perhaps into the Panhandle. Fracasso
