US Day 3-7 Hazards Outlook NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 411 PM EDT Wed May 29 2019 Valid Saturday June 01 2019 - Wednesday June 05 2019 Hazards: - Heavy rain across portions of the Central and Southern Plains, the Middle and Lower Mississippi Valley, the Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley, Mon-Wed, Jun 3-Jun 5. - Flooding possible across portions of the Northern, Central and Southern Plains, the Northern Rockies, the entire Mississippi Valley and the Great Lakes. - Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Northern, Central and Southern Plains, the entire Mississippi Valley, the Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley. - Flooding likely across portions of the Northern and Central Plains, the Upper and Middle Mississippi Valley and the Northern Great Basin. Detailed Summary: Scattered precipitation along with temperatures closer to seasonal average is in store for most of the country thanks to a shift in the weather pattern. The much warmer temperatures that has been anchored over the Southeast will move westward over the Gulf states while allowing a slight cool down from the Carolinas to Florida. Very warm/hot conditions will continue across the South but at levels below hazardous thresholds. Rainfall will become less focused and driven by weaker dynamics (more typical of summer). An elevated threat for heavy rainfall Monday and beyond will span from Oklahoma to Illinois. Soil moisture remains well above normal and close to record levels across most of the central U.S. Expect some heavy rain to occur in this target area near a frontal boundary but this will be refined over the next few days. River flooding is expected to continue through the period as the tributaries continue to carry water into and through the main stems. No hazards were depicted for Alaska as a system moves through the southern Gulf of Alaska next week, keeping most of the rainfall over the ocean but perhaps into the Panhandle. Campbell
