US Day 3-7 Hazards Outlook NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 356 PM EDT Thu May 30 2019 Valid Sunday June 02 2019 - Thursday June 06 2019 Hazards: - Heavy rain across portions of the Central/Southern Plains and the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley, Thu, Jun 6. - Flooding possible across portions of the Central/Southern Plains, the Great Lakes, and the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley. - Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Plains, the Mississippi Valley, the Central Great Basin, the Great Lakes, the Northern Rockies, the Northern Great Basin, and the Ohio Valley. - Flooding likely across portions of the Northern/Central Plains, the Northern Rockies, the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley, and the Northern Great Basin. - Much above normal temperatures across portions of the Southeast, the Lower Mississippi Valley, and the Southern Plains, Sun-Mon, Jun 2-Jun 3. - Much above normal temperatures across portions of the Southern Plains, Thu, Jun 6. Detailed Summary: Upper-level ridging will return to parts of the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast as high temperatures reach the 90's into near 100 degrees and dewpoint temperatures will be in the Upper 60's into the low 70's will aid in producing heat index in the 105 to 110 degree range. So an area of much above normal temperatures on Sunday into Monday. Likewise, on Thursday the temperature and dewpoint will be very similar over parts of the Lower Rio Grande Valley. There is an uncertainty of rainfall producing an inch of heavy rainfall over parts of the Central/Southern Plains and Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley, but there is enough models that have an inch of heavy rain in 24 hours over the general region that an area of heavy rain over the region on Thursday. No hazards were depicted for Alaska as a system moves through the Southern Gulf of Alaska next week, keeping most of the rainfall over the ocean but perhaps into the Panhandle. Ziegenfelder
