US Day 3-7 Hazards Outlook NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 404 PM EDT Tue Jun 25 2019 Valid Friday June 28 2019 - Tuesday July 02 2019 Hazards: - Flooding possible across portions of the Central Plains and the Middle Mississippi Valley. - Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Central/Southern Plains, the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley, and the Ohio Valley. - Flooding likely across portions of the Central Plains and the Middle Mississippi Valley. Detailed Summary: The medium-range period will appear to be relatively quiet in terms of hazardous weather across the U.S. Although the upper-level pattern continues to favor a trough over the Western U.S., a ridge of high pressure that is forecast to strengthen over the central part of the country will limit the chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms over areas where rainfall amounts have been well above normal since this spring. Nevertheless, models have been indicating that an inverted trough/easterly wave would form underneath the building ridge and then moves from east to west across Florida into the Western Gulf State. Rainfall amounts associated with this feature are not excessive thus far according to global models. Nevertheless, localized heavy rainfall cannot be ruled out should a surface low pressure center develops. With the building ridge over the Mississippi Valley and the Plains, maximum temperatures will be 12 degrees above normal over parts of the Northern/Central High Plains on Friday with the temperature anomalies moving into the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley on Saturday then decreasing to about 10 degrees on Sunday and even lower on Monday and Tuesday. With the temperature anomaly moving eastward then decreasing no area of above normal temperatures is depicted on the hazards map. Over the Northern Plains, a low pressure system is forecast to develop on Friday in West-Central Canada and move eastward to James Bay by Tuesday. The trailing front will linger over the Northern Plains into the Upper Great Lakes will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over the region Friday into Tuesday. No hazardous weather is anticipated for Alaska through the medium-range period. Ziegenfelder
