Detailed Summary: Upper-level ridging over the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley will work in combination with low pressure over the Northern High Plains to pull dewpoint temperatures in the mid to upper 70's and high temperatures ranging from the low 90's and upper 80's that will translate into heat index of 105 to 110 over parts of the Northern Plains into parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley on Saturday. On Sunday the heat index will lower slightly to 100 to 105 which meets or exceeds the excessive heat criteria on Saturday and Sunday over parts of the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley. Similarly, upper-level ridging and surface high temperatures ranging from the upper 90's to the low 100's combined with dewpoint temperatures in the mid to upper 60's into the low 70's, a long with dry soil will aid in producing heat index ranging from 105 to 110 over the Southeast that will meet or exceeds the excessive heat criteria for the Southeast from Monday into Wednesday. Meanwhile, surface high pressure over the Eastern Gulf of Mexico will aid in streaming moisture northward out of the Western Gulf of Mexico that will become tropical moisture overnight Tuesday into Wednesday a long with upper-level energy over the Lower Rio Grande Valley will aid in producing heavy rain over parts of the Western Gulf Coast on Tuesday into Wednesday. Over Alaska, temperatures of 20 degrees above normal and dry soil will aid in producing an area of excessive heat over parts of the Kenal Peninsula into parts of the Alaska Range on Saturday into early Sunday. In addition, dry soil and dry vegetation/fuels a long with upper-level ridging over the Alaska mainland will combine to produce a broad area of Elevated Fire Weather risk over the Alaska mainland south of the Brooks Range eastward to the U. S./Canadian border and as far south as the Kuskokwim Mountains to parts of the Cook Inlet and Kenal Peninsula from Sunday into Wednesday. Ziegenfelder
