Detailed Summary: On Friday/Saturday, two frontal boundaries over the central Plains will focus an area of showers and thunderstorms as a mid-level shortwave sinks southeastward. With a strong increase in available moisture, a threat of heavy rain is expected as a mesoscale convective system potentially organizes and moves into the Southern Plains by Saturday. Several inches of rain are possible within the highlighted area from southern Nebraska to southern Oklahoma. In the Southwest, another couple days of excessive heat will be possible Friday/Saturday from the lower deserts along the Colorado River into the Phoenix/Tucson areas. Temperatures are expected to reach into the 110s which may approach record highs in some locations. Over Florida, the National Hurricane Center takes Tropical Storm Dorian to the Florida Space coast by Sunday morning. This would increase the chance of high winds and heavy rain across much of Florida into next week with a possibility of heavy rainfall spreading northward and westward through the Southeast U.S. thereafter. Please consult the latest National Hurricane Center forecast for Dorian. In Alaska, a significant occluded cyclone is expected to bring heavy rain into the central/eastern Aleutians on Sunday then eastward along coastal sections of southern Alaska into next Monday/Tuesday. Also, southwestern Alaska from Bristol Bay to the Kuskokwim River may see heavy rain as the triple point lifts northeastward. Some strong winds are possible through the Aleutians into southern coastal Alaska near 40-50kts. Fracasso
