US Day 3-7 Hazards Outlook NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 252 PM EST Mon Nov 18 2019 Valid Thursday November 21 2019 - Monday November 25 2019 Hazards: - Heavy rain across portions of the Lower Mississippi Valley, Tennessee Valley, and Southern Appalachians, Thu-Fri, Nov 21-Nov 22. - Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Northern Plains. - Heavy precipitation across portions of the Alaska Panhandle and mainland Alaska, Thu-Fri, Nov 21-Nov 22. Detailed Summary: **Due to technical issues, the drought monitor information for the WPC Day 3-7 hazards outlook is unavailable** An upper level low over the Southwest U.S. to start the medium range period will shift eastward towards the Southern Plains. While the heavy rain threat associated with this system is mostly in the short range, some lingering mountain snows will be possible across parts Four Corners region and Southern Rockies on Thursday, though amounts and coverage are marginal to include an area on the hazards map. As this system ejects eastward, heavy rainfall is expected to develop, with guidance continuing to suggest the potential for a couple inches of rain from Arkansas/northern Louisiana eastward to the Southern Appalachians/southwest Mid-Atlantic on Thursday and Friday. In Alaska, a deep cyclone over the western Mainland and multiple waves of low pressure moving into the Gulf will bring rounds of heavy rain/mountain snows across especially the higher terrain of the southern mainland coast and much of the Panhandle. High winds/waves are also likely associated with this system, though intensity may be below criteria for inclusion on the hazards chart for today. Santorelli
