Detailed Summary: The medium range period (Thursday Nov. 28 through Monday Dec. 2) is very busy with multiple weather hazards found across the country. Starting on Thanksgiving across the Northeast, a departing and restrengthening low pressure system will create a tight pressure gradient across the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic. This will result in High Winds from eastern Maine to northern Virginia. The most impactful system of the period is forecast to be found across the Southwest and central Rockies on Thursday and Friday, before exiting eastward across the Northern Plains and Midwest Saturday and Sunday. Heavy rain is possible across portions of southern California, as well as southern Arizona on Thursday and Friday. Precipitation will mostly fall as snow from the Mongollan Rim in Arizona northward through the northern Rockies, where a foot or more of snow is possible in the higher elevations. As the system enters the Great Plains, heavy snow is forecast to spread from eastern Wyoming to the Upper Great Lakes. High winds will also accompany the low pressure system across the High Plains, extending into the Northern and Central Plains on Saturday and Sunday. This combination of heavy snow and strong winds could lead to blizzard conditions. Given this is a very busy weekend for travel, it is important to consider alternate plans across this region. Further south, heavy rain and severe thunderstorms are possible across the Southern Plains on Friday ahead of the approaching cold front. The heavy rain threat will shift east on Saturday and Sunday across the Ohio Valley and central Appalachians, with a widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain possible. By Sunday and Monday, the aforementioned system is expected to move into the Northeast and could bring heavy snow across interior New England. Significant model spread still exists on timing and location of the heaviest snow, however the highest probabilities for impactful snowfall remain across portions of Upstate New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire. High winds behind the system will be found across the Great Lakes by Sunday. Meanwhile, another system is forecast to bring rain and mountain snow to the western U.S. by Sunday. The highest amounts are currently forecast to be across northern and central California. Across Alaska, heavy precipitation is forecast across the southern coast of mainland Alaska between Thursday and Saturday. Several feet of snow is possible across the Kenai Mountains. Snell
