Then beginning on Tuesday and continuing in Thursday, as a weakening upper low lifts northeastward from the southwestern U.S. and northwestern Mexico and into the Southern Plains, heavy rains are expected to redevelop and spread north and east from the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley to the Tennessee and Lower Ohio valleys, Southern Appalachians and Southeast. A fast-moving area of low pressure is expected to support a brief period of potentially heavy snow from Wisconsin to northern New York late Sunday and across northern New England on Monday. A second system dropping into the southwestern U.S. is expected to support heavy precipitation, including high elevation snow along the Mogollon Rim in Arizona and heavy snows across the San Juan Mountains into southwestern Colorado and far northern New Mexico on Tuesday and Wednesday. Across Alaska, persistent onshore winds along with a weak surface low tracking east from the Gulf of Alaska will support heavy precipitation along the Panhandle beginning Sunday and continuing through Monday.
