Detailed Summary: In Alaska, abnormally mild conditions will linger over the Far North north of the Brooks Range as an intense upper-level ridge over the state slowly weakens. The upper-level ridging will aid in producing temperatures that are much above Normal temperatures through Saturday. A deep area of low pressure over the Bering Sea will move eastward into the northern mainland that will aid in producing an area of high wind and heavy precipitation over the Seward Peninsula to the Pt. Hope and southward to Bethel with wind speed of 35 knots or greater and rain greater than 1 inch or 12 inches of snow on Saturday into Sunday. A front moving southward over the Southern Plains will move northward as a warm front on Monday. The front will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over the Southern Plains and parts of the Gulf Coast and northward to the Middle Mississippi Valley. The precipitation has a lot of uncertainty so there is no confidence in location of 1 inch or greater areas of rain on Saturday into Sunday. A storm over the Eastern Pacific will move onshore over the West Coast on Saturday and move inland by Monday. A weak plume of moisture will come onshore with the storm. The moisture and low snow levels will aid in producing heavy snow over parts of Northern California on Saturday that will expand into the Sierra Nevada mountains by Sunday and slowly taper off by Tuesday.
