Hazards:
- Heavy precipitation across portions of the Central Plains, the Northern Plains, and the Northern 
Rockies, Sat-Sun, Oct 17-Oct 18.
- Heavy rain across portions of the Northeast, Sat, Oct 17.
- Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Lower Mississippi Valley.
- High winds across portions of the Great Lakes and the Upper Mississippi Valley, Sat-Sun, Oct 
17-Oct 18.
- Much below normal temperatures across portions of the Central Plains, the Upper/Middle 
Mississippi Valley, the Northern Plains, and the Northern Rockies, Sun-Tue, Oct 18-Oct 21.
 
Detailed Summary:

A front moving off the Northeast Coast on Saturday will aid in producing heavy rain over parts of 
Northern New England.  Meanwhile, as high pressure builds over the Northern Plains on Saturday into 
Sunday, and with the presence of a front nearby, heavy precipitation will develop Saturday and 
Sunday with higher elevation snow and lower elevation rain over parts of the Northern Rockies. 

The aforementioned area of high pressure will produce clear skies and calm wind that will allow 
minimum temperatures to drop into the teens on Sunday through Tuesday morning as an area of much 
below normal temperatures is depicted of the Hazards map on Saturday into Wednesday over the 
Northern High Plains/Northern Plains.

In addition, low pressure over the Northern/Central Plains on Saturday will move northeastward 
across the Great Lakes on Sunday morning and into Eastern Canada by Monday.  The pressure gradient 
associated with the low will produce high winds over the region with 40 mph wind expected over the 
open waters of the Great Lakes on Saturday and Sunday. 

Over Alaska, a front moves across the mainland on Saturday and into the Gulf of Alaska by Monday.  
The system will produce precipitation over parts of the mainland but the system will not have a 
strong moisture connection so the precipitation will not meet the criteria for heavy precipitation 
over the mainland or the Gulf Coast.  In addition, low pressure over the Gulf of Alaska will move 
inland across Western Canada into the Pacific Northwest on Sunday. This system will not produce 
heavy precipitation as the storm moves inland.  On Monday, high pressure will begin to move in over 
the mainland and continue over the region through Wednesday.
