After landfall, the storm will move northeastward while weakening moving off the Mid-Atlantic Coast by Friday. ZETA will interact with a nearby front producing heavy rain over parts of the Mid-Atlantic, Southern/Central Appalachians, and parts of the Ohio Valley on Thursday. The moisture associated with ZETA will move into cold air over Northern New England producing snow over the area but the snow will not be heavy enough to put out a separate area of heavy snow or heavy precipitation. Meanwhile, cold high pressure over the Central Rockies and extending into parts of the Southern Rockies will aid in allowing temperatures to be 12 to 20 degrees below normal over parts of the the Plains, Mississippi Valley on Thursday. The temperatures will begin to moderate after Thursday. For Alaska, low pressure south of the Aleutians on Thursday will move eastward across the Gulf of Alaska moving into the Alaska Panhandle by Saturday. The system will be accompanied by moisture that will, likewise, move into the Panhandle. The storm will produce heavy precipitation from near Yakutat to near Sitka on Friday into Saturday. For Hawaii, deep tropical moisture over the island chain will produce several inches of rain each day which may result in flooding. There is currently a Flash Flood Watch up that will remain through Thursday. Ziegenfelder
