US Day 3-7 Hazards Outlook NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 340 PM EST Wed Feb 24 2021 Valid Saturday February 27 2021 - Wednesday March 03 2021 Hazards: - Heavy rain across portions of the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley, the Central Appalachians, the Tennessee Valley, the Mid-Atlantic, the Southern Appalachians, the Southern Plains, and the Ohio Valley, Sat-Sun, Feb 27-Feb 28. - Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic. - Flooding likely across portions of the Southeast. - Heavy precipitation across portions of the Alaska Panhandle and mainland Alaska, Sat-Mon, Feb 27-Mar 1. - High winds across portions of mainland Alaska and the Aleutians, Sun-Mon, Feb 28-Mar 1. Detailed Summary: The medium-range period (Saturday, February 27 - Wednesday, March 3) has a front extending from the Great Lakes to the Western Gulf Coast that will move eastward to the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast and extending across the Gulf Coast by Monday. The boundary will move southeastward to of the Southeast Coast while remaining quasi-stationary across the Gulf of Mexico. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will pool along the boundary, aiding in producing heavy rain over parts of Lower Mississippi Valley and the Tennessee/Ohio Valleys into the Central Appalachians on Saturday and Sunday. For Alaska, low pressure over the Southwestern Mainland will move eastward along the Gulf of Alaska Coast into Canada. Another low over North Pacific will move into the Bering Sea on Sunday into Monday and along the Gulf of Alaska Coast, becoming stationary on Wednesday. The first low will have a plume of moisture associated with it, streaming moisture into the Alaska Panhandle on Saturday into Sunday. The moisture will help produce an area of heavy precipitation from just east of Prince William Sound into the Alaska Panhandle on Saturday into Monday.
