Detailed Summary: The main areas of concern during the medium range period (Monday, March 15th - Wednesday, March 19th) will be across the Midwest and Southeast, where an upper-level low and quasi-stationary front are forecast to generate heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms through midweek. A closed upper-level low will begin to negatively tilt on Monday which will draw heavy rain and thunderstorms up from the Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley and into the Tennessee Valley and Midwest. Some light snow may materialize over parts of the interior Northeast/Northern Appalachians on Tuesday. Another system will follow in behind the previous one, bringing with it the potential for another round of heavy rainfall to parts of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic through mid-week. Light to moderate rain and snow will impact Alaska's southern coast and panhandle through the middle of the week, although model confidence isn't high regarding aerial coverage and magnitude of precipitation at the moment. High pressure will settle over much of the mainland from Tuesday onward. Kebede
