US Day 3-7 Hazards Outlook NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 405 PM EDT Wed Sep 01 2021 Valid Saturday September 04 2021 - Wednesday September 08 2021 Hazards: - Flooding possible across portions of the Northeast, the Central Appalachians, the Tennessee Valley, the Mid-Atlantic, the Southeast, the Great Lakes, and the Ohio Valley. - Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Southeast, the Lower Mississippi Valley, the Upper Mississippi Valley, and the Tennessee Valley. - Flooding likely across portions of the Northeast, the Central Appalachians, the Middle Mississippi Valley, the Mid-Atlantic, the Upper Mississippi Valley, and the Ohio Valley. Detailed Summary: The medium range period (Saturday, Sep 4 to Wednesday, Sept 8) will be relatively quiet in the wake of Post-T.C. Ida, but flooding concerns will remain over parts of the eastern CONUS. Some convective activity should fire up across the Central/Southern Plains and into the Middle Mississippi Valley on Saturday, but nothing substantial enough to warrant a heavy rain area. A series of low pressure systems will propagate across the central and eastern U.S., producing rain showers for much of the Great Lakes and Northeast. Scattered to isolated thunderstorm activity is likely to form across the Gulf coast as a pair of cold fronts approach from the north. In Alaska, no hazards are forecast for the medium range period, but we're monitoring an occluded low pressure system approaching the mainland from the Aleutians late next week. In the meantime, persistent troughing and a semi-stationary front across the northern mainland will lead to scattered showers for the region this weekend and into early next week. Kebede
