US Day 3-7 Hazards Outlook NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 321 PM EST Mon Nov 08 2021 Valid Thursday November 11 2021 - Monday November 15 2021 Hazards: - Heavy rain across portions of the Pacific Northwest, Thu, Nov 11. - Heavy snow across portions of the Pacific Northwest and the Northern Great Basin, Thu-Fri, Nov 11-Nov 12. - Heavy snow across portions of the Pacific Northwest, Thu, Nov 11. - Flooding occurring or imminent across portions of the Southeast. Detailed Summary: We're in for a relatively quiet medium range period (Thursday, November 11th - Monday, November 15th) across the CONUS and Alaska. The Pacific Northwest is likely to be the only region to experience hazardous weather during this period, due to persistent troughing and on-shore flow. Heavy rain is expected along the Washington state and northern Oregon coasts on Thursday, where rainfall amounts are likely to eclipse 2 inches. Heavy snow is likely to overspread much of the Cascades and Olympic mountains on Thursday and continuing into Friday for the Cascades. Some light snow may make its way into the Rockies on Thursday as well. High pressure builds over California and the Great Basin on Friday which will allow for a warmer airmass to develop and expand across the entire western U.S.. Meanwhile, a low pressure system will glide across the Mississippi Valley and into the Northeast between Thursday and Saturday. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will spread from the Mississippi Valley into the East Coast during this period. Confidence is low on the development of heavy rain and heavy lake effect snow, particularly in the Northeast on Thursday/Friday, due to the qpf model spread. Late week warmth in the east will make way for below average temperatures for the Midwest and Southeast this weekend in the wake of the low pressure system. No hazards are forecast for Alaska at this time. A potent low pressure system over the Gulf will not produce hazardous high winds for the Gulf coast on Friday. Temperatures over the southwest mainland will be below average on Friday as the aforementioned Gulf system pulls in cooler continental air to the area on its backside. Kebede
