Concerning...Heavy rainfall...Flash flooding possible

Valid 310218Z - 310718Z

Summary...A scattered line of slow moving thunderstorms will
persist along the Blue Ridge of NC and southern VA into the early
morning hours.

Discussion...Scattered convection has formed along the Blue Ridge
of NC/southern VA south from a warm front draped across southern
VA in 1000-1500 J/KG of MLCAPE. Deep mean layer flow is out of the
southwest at 15kt which is oriented along the Blue Ridge. Low
level flow is out of the southeast which is transporting moisture
from the Piedmont and Tidewater where precipitable water is over
two inches.

The combination of moisture influx, terrain based activity, and
mean flow along the terrain should maintain slow moving
heavy-at-times thunderstorms. Rain rates up to 2.0 inches have
been observed in the heaviest activity and can be expected to
continue.

Recent HRRR runs maintain activity through 06-08Z before
diminishing as instability is exhausted. Some flash flooding is
ongoing with further flash flooding possible.
