Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 830 AM EDT Thu Oct 02 2014 Valid 00Z Fri Oct 03 2014 - 00Z Fri Oct 10 2014 Models and ensembles reasonably agree that light trades over the next couple of days may be further disrupted this weekend into next week as a wavy mid-latitude front approaches and stalls to the northwest of the state. This occurs as a series of lead supporting and energetic mid-upper level troughs and then the potent extratropical low associated with current west Pacific Typhoon Phanfone pass well to the north of Hawaii and lifts into the nern Pacific. Pooling moisture over the islands should continue to fuel showers in an emerging land/sea breeze focusing pattern as per a prefered composite model and ensemble solution. Schichtel
