Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 827 AM EDT Fri Oct 03 2014 Valid 00Z Sat Oct 04 2014 - 00Z Sat Oct 11 2014 The latest models and ensembles still reasonably agree that light trades may be further disrupted this weekend into next week as a wavy mid-latitude front approaches and stalls to the northwest of the state. This occurs as a series of lead supporting and energetic mid-upper level troughs and then the potent extratropical low associated with current west Pacific Typhoon Phanfone pass over the northern Pacific well to the north of Hawaii before lifting into the nern Pacific as a massively large storm. Pooling moisture over the islands should continue to fuel island showers in an emerging land/sea breeze focusing pattern as per a prefered composite model and ensemble solution with trades slow to return into later next week.
