Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 818 AM EDT Sat Nov 01 2014 Valid 00Z Sun Nov 02 2014 - 00Z Sun Nov 09 2014 Mid-level ridging that currently forms an umbrella over the region is forecast to be replaced by troughing early next week. Associated surface cold front should approach and perhaps dip through the NW islands but mostly wash out as it sinks toward 21-22N lat by midweek. The ensembles diverge by this point with many 00Z GEFS members -- which are a bit deeper/slower with the upper trough -- lowering PW values near Lihue to near or under 1 inch while the ECMWF members -- a bit quicker/weaker with the trough -- maintain values near 1.50 inches. 06Z GFS and 00Z ECMWF may forge a reasonable solution. By the end of next week, additional troughing should pass by to the north of the state, though this time the ECMWF members lag behind the GEFS members. Fracasso
