Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 722 AM EST Sat Nov 15 2014 Valid 00Z Sun Nov 16 2014 - 00Z Sun Nov 23 2014 The latest global numerical guidance indicates that the flow across Hawai'i will switch from dominant polar westerlies to tropical easterlies within the next week. The energetic trough sharpening to the east of the islands this weekend will turn the surface winds to the north--bringing an abrupt end to the focused, baroclinically-driven showers currently in progress. By late next Thursday night, the first return-flow/tropical moisture should begin to lift across the Big Island, with the entire state in the thick of the humid air by Saturday. Once the northerly flow takes over, preciously few showers are anticipated--likely into the middle of next week even once warm advection begins. Next Saturday looks showery statewide--particularly across the Big Island and Maui. Cisco
