Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 716 AM EST Sun Dec 07 2014 Valid 00Z Mon Dec 08 2014 - 00Z Mon Dec 15 2014 The global models continue to indicate that a low level ridge moves north across the waters north of the islands today and then east of the islands by mid week, with a weakness at the tail end of a central Pacific cold front crossing Tuesday to Wednesday. The next ridge of high pressure builds east from the western Pacific Thursday and moves north of the islands, and then to the northeast by next weekend, when the next weakness passes near the tail end of a cold front. Precipitable water anomalies are forecast to be below normal normal through the vast majority of the period. Modest rainfall is expected, primarily in windward areas when the low level weaknesses occur. The models are in pretty good agreement on the large scale pattern with consensus serving to resolve differences. Petersen
