The 9/00Z ECENS/GEFS means and their deterministic runs were in
good agreement with respect to the mass field forecasts---into day
7. Both support the current Hawai'i forecast and philosophy.

No reason to discard the expectations---a mid-latitude trough to
migrate into the Subtropics in the day 4-5 time frame---and
temporarily disrupt the Subtropical Ridge. Behind the front,
another migratory surface ridge moves eastward---supported by
large-scale ridging aloft anchored in the tropical southwestern
Pacific. This stable ridge pattern holds from day 5 into day 7.
