A cold front is slated to settle across the Hawai'ian islands
Monday, whereupon it is progged to stall and develop a closed wave
not far from the state--most likely off to the northeast. There
has been quite a bit of variability in the models as to where the
closing off takes place, and of course, much and more depends upon
how close the eddy forms--if at all--particularly with regard to
wind and rain. As of the 00Z/20 data cycle of the usually reliable
ECMWF, the circulation looks far enough to the east to spare the
islands a dousing, indicating showers followed by gusty northwest
winds in the upcoming week.
