Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 717 AM EST Sat Jan 10 2015 Valid 00Z Sun Jan 11 2015 - 00Z Sun Jan 18 2015 The models/ensemble means continue to show a high amplitude mid level ridge centered south of the islands and surface ridge north of the islands through the week, with a weakness in the sfc ridge as a decaying cold front passes through on early Friday. Pockets of dry air rotate around the low level ridge, with a minimum in precipitable water remaining in place over Hawaii much of the week. Light showers are possible, including when the dying front approaches near the end of the week. Limited moisture reduces chances of any moderate or heavy showers. Being near the low level ridge also cases trade winds to be light much of the week. Petersen
