Both the GFS and the ECMWF continue to show a cold frontal passage
through the state Saturday into early Sunday, accompanied by
shifting winds and generally light amounts of precipitation. Both
models also continue to indicate the passage of another cold front
next Friday January 30. At this point, that front also looks
relatively dry on the GFS, but the ECMWF is more vigorous with the
associated shortwave, spitting out a quarter- to a half-inch or
more statewide. Between the two fronts, Hawai'i should sit
squarely under a ridge, with mostly sunny skies and normal trade
winds.
