Both the latest GFS and ECMWF continue to indicate that Hawai'i
will remain under the influence of the current trough as it
retrogrades just west of the islands in the coming days. The
models show that the trough reaches its farthest west position
00Z/04 Wednesday, therewith progressing to the east once again as
fresh energy in the westerlies picks it up. With all the waffling
of the front, a tap of tropical moisture will remain intact, with
several inches of rainfall progged in much of the state. Some
favored locations--particularly in the terrain of the Big Island
and Maui--could net over a foot as per the GFS QPF.
