Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 812 AM EDT Mon Mar 23 2015 Valid 00Z Tue Mar 24 2015 - 00Z Tue Mar 31 2015 Rather quiet pattern to start the week will get interrupted on Wednesday as a weak cold front pushes through the northern islands. This should attempt to move through the rest of the island chain on Thursday but its support will move off to the east, leaving it to dissipate. Modest high pressure in its wake should veer winds from northerly post-frontal passage to brisk northeasterly late Thursday into Friday. ECMWF ensembles indicate more precipitation for the Big Island Friday compared to the GEFS members, which is possible but PW values should gradually drop below climo values (1.2" or so at Hilo). Upper ridging will then build into the region this coming weekend per the latest ensemble guidance. Fracasso
