The models indicate that the trough in the westerlies currently
affecting Hawai'i will shear off to the east over the weekend,
dragging a long tail of deep-layer moisture behind. Both the
00Z/29 ECMWF and the 06Z/29 GFS show the approach of another
trough from the northwest late next week. That wave is progged to
be flatter, and will have a suppressive effect on the moisture
across the state. Five-day QPF totals through 00Z/03 Thursday are
generally 0.50-1.00", with slightly higher amounts into the
mountains.
