Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 815 AM EDT Wed Jul 22 2015 Valid 00Z Thu Jul 23 2015 - 00Z Thu Jul 30 2015 Ensembles indicate that the strong ridging in between Hawai'i and Alaska will split/reform across the north Pacific late this weekend, with new centers over the western Aleutians and near California. In the central tropical Pacific, an upper low will continue to retrograde westward away from the region, allowing ridging to build in Thursday through the weekend. Precipitation should be generally light after today (Wednesday) except over windward areas. PW values are forecast to remain near average July values early next week, with a slight increase as the leftover moisture associated with Enrique pass through, but with little fanfare. The 00Z ECMWF shows a PW surge just south and east of the Big Island by next Wednesday but has little ensemble support at this time (5-10% of the members). Fracasso
