Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 800 AM EDT Sun Aug 02 2015 Valid 00Z Mon Aug 03 2015 - 00Z Mon Aug 10 2015 Guidance remains agreeable regarding the forecast early in the period. Expect moderate to brisk trades as supported by high pressure to the northeast of the state. At the same time remnant moisture from Tropical Depression Eight-E should enhance rainfall somewhat primarily over the Big Island. Then the track of gradually weakening Hurricane Guillermo will determine the weather impacts for the area in the Tue night to Thu time frame. The 0900 UTC advisory from the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) indicates a track just a fraction north of the islands. Guidance spread has narrowed somewhat from yesterday but current differences remain significant in terms of resulting rainfall and wind speeds/direction. Consult CPHC products for the latest information regarding Guillermo. With the passage of Guillermo, moderate to brisk trades should resume from Fri into the weekend as high pressure covering the eastern half of the Pacific may drift as close to the islands as 35N latitude. Prior to this time the surface high is likely to be centered at least as far northward as 40N. Rausch
