Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 817 AM EDT Sat Oct 17 2015 Valid 00Z Sun Oct 18 2015 - 00Z Sun Oct 25 2015 After the tropical wave near the region passes to the west this weekend, the weather pattern is expected to be rather quiet. Upper ridging will coalesce to the southwest of Hawai'i near the Dateline which will leave a slight weakness near and to the east of the state. Precipitable water values will oscillate on either side of climatological values with a decrease Sunday/Monday, an increase Tuesday/Wednesday, and another decrease later next week. QPF from the models/ensembles was generally light outside favored windward/terrain areas. In addition, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring Tropical Storm Olaf well east of the islands. The forecast takes this system just past 140W in five days, and likely northward and then northeastward after that. Please consult the NHC for the latest information. Fracasso
