Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 822 AM EDT Sun Oct 25 2015 Valid 00Z Mon Oct 26 2015 - 00Z Mon Nov 02 2015 Models and ensembles agree in maintaining weak surface flow this weekend over the Hawaiian Islands in the wake of Olaf moving staedily northeastward and away from the islands. Please refer to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) for the latest official forecasts for Olaf. The tail end of a showery frontal boundary emanating from a powerful low deepening across the north Pacific well north of the islands will push through the state Monday. Deep layered anticyclonic flow behind this front will build across the Island chain through mid next week, with corresponding strengthening trades. Trades should begin to weaken Thursday ahead of the next front pushing southeastward across the central Pacific. This front digs underneath another and complex deep low system that includes energy from the extratropical remains of Champi. These weakened island trades should prevail and moisten into Saturday, with possible re-strengthening late next weekend as high pressure rebuilds over the mid-latitudes of the central Pacififc.
