Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 703 AM EST Tue Dec 01 2015 Valid 00Z Wed Dec 02 2015 - 00Z Wed Dec 09 2015 Latest guidance shows better than average agreement for the large scale pattern through the period. Trades should be in the moderate to brisk range with some daily variation depending on the position of individual surface highs tracking eastward to the north of the state. One of these highs should pass by around Wed-Thu followed by a slightly weaker one during the weekend. Trades might weaken a little early next week as the second high settles over the eastern Pacific. Current model/ensemble runs suggest that windward favored showers should remain on the light side through the next seven days. Expect precipitable water values around an inch on average, at the most approaching 1.25 inches near the northwestern islands in the vicinity of stalling front. Meanwhile an east-west oriented ridge aloft should prevail through the weekend and then strengthen to the northeast of the islands early next week. Rausch
