Models and ensembles show anomalous ridging persisting through
about early Saturday between 140-150W just east of Hawai'i.
Thereafter, the 00Z GFS/ECMWF/CMC indicate an upper trough to
possibly close off near 28N/164W. The recent GFS runs remain
stronger with this feature compared to the others and ensembles
but did show this yesterday. Would recommend a compromise
GFS/ECMWF solution. This should keep the feature progressive and
sensible weather affects minimal. Trades may veer from easterly to
southeasterly as the shear line associated with the upper trough
approaches but PW values are forecast to remain near to below
climo values so precipitation should be modest at best in favored
terrain areas.
