Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 716 AM EST Wed Dec 23 2015 Valid 00Z Thu Dec 24 2015 - 00Z Thu Dec 31 2015 Upper low currently just to the east of the Big Island will continue to slowly move eastward over the next few days, but an upper trough axis is forecast to linger over the region through the weekend and early next week. Models/ensembles show this evolution but differ on how quickly to build heights. A compromise solution is preferred. At the surface, a frontal boundary will approach the NW islands on Friday but weaken as high pressure moves in behind it along 33N. This should bring in breezy conditions to the islands. PW values are expected to rise slightly ahead of the front or shear axis and then decrease after Monday. Rainfall should be light to modest, favoring windward/terrain areas most. Fracasso
