Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 711 AM EST Fri Dec 25 2015 Valid 00Z Sat Dec 26 2015 - 00Z Sat Jan 02 2016 The latest models and ensembles still reasonably agree that an upper low now east of the Big Island will continue to slowly move eastward over the next few days, but that an upper trough axis may linger over the region through the holiday weekend and early next week. A favored guidance composite supports increased island trades and some pooling moisture/showers for this period as supporting high pressure bridges to the north of the state. Expect weakening trades and more limited moisture through mid-later next week. Deeper mid-upper level trough passage to the north of the state may then force a surface front with enhanced showers toward the northern islands to ring in the New Year. Merry Christmas/ Mike Schichtel
