Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 834 AM EDT Tue May 10 2016 Valid 00Z Wed May 11 2016 - 00Z Wed May 18 2016 A wet weather pattern remains in place for parts of Hawaii. A draped front currently near Maui will gradually weaken, but its deepening moisture axis will remain mostly over the southeastern islands this week with pooled precipitable water values potentially ranging upwards to 1.5-1.75" at times. There is a threat of heavy local downpours and WFO Honolulu has issued a flash flood watch for Maui. Potential should slowly lessen in coverage and intensity and expand northwestward into Sunday/Monday. The pressure gradient is forecast to relax and trades should weaken by Friday/Saturday. A favored model composite then show heights building next Sun/Mon and trades should pick up again next week more in earnest as surface high pressure strengthens to the northeast of the state.
