Remaining moisture pool from an old front across the central
islands will move slowly but steadily northward today. Showers and
locally heavy rain is possible this weekend, but especially on
Saturday. Next week, ensembles show a strengthening upper/sfc high
to the northeast of the state, leaving Hawai'i in a relative
weakness. Trades will pick up again by Tuesday into Thursday ahead
of a system moving toward the Aleutians from the central Pacific.
Increased showers are forecast per the GFS but a bit less so by
the ECMWF. That front should stay well northwest of the region
with another high pressure cell behind it, located near 38N/168W
by next Saturday (per the 06Z GEFS and 00Z ECMWF ensemble mean,
which is near a 00Z GFS position).
