Ensembles indicate an upper and surface high pressure will remain
mostly in place north of the 50th state near 40N/160W. This will
favor an upper low to its east and then southeast, slowly sliding
underneath the high toward the southwest. A multi-ensemble
consensus favors a solution in between the 00Z and 06Z GFS.
However, the exact orientation of the northern stream flow will
dictate how far southwestward the upper low may progress (or not
progress, and lift back toward Alaska). Hawai'i will remain in a
slight weakness with bouts of moisture rotating through the region
and slowly easing trades that will be rather breezy for the rest
of this week. Precipitation is not expected to be heavy but will
break to the lee side of the terrain over the next few days given
the stronger trades.
