Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 731 AM EDT Tue Jun 28 2016 Valid 00Z Wed Jun 29 2016 - 00Z Wed Jul 06 2016 The Subtropical Ridge will strengthen, broaden and anchor along 35N latitude during the forecast period. Trades appear to be on the increase during the next 48 hours and hold firm through next weekend. The 28/00Z ECENS/GEFS means depict a typical Summer pattern --- with a quasi-stationary upper-level trough in the eastern Gulf of Alaska and a rather flat flow across the mid-latitude Pacific (along/north of 50N). This pattern generally will allow the formation of one or more TUTT cells (mid-level closed lows) in the east central Pacific---which will meander westward towards Hawai'i. One such feature is depicted by the means around day 6. Vojtesak
