Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 808 AM EDT Tue Jul 05 2016 Valid 00Z Wed Jul 06 2016 - 00Z Wed Jul 13 2016 Strong and elongated upper ridging is forecast to remain situated north of Hawai'i near 40N/160W through the weekend before weakening and retreating to the southwest early next week. A pair of upper lows to the west and east of the region will slowly move westward, the eastern one just ahead of Hurricane Blas, which should be weakening later this week. That leaves Hawai'i in relative upper ridging for this work week before the upper low to the east approaches the area. Trades will be fairly breezy for the next few days with the surface high (1033-1035mb) to the north. Precipitation should be light to locally moderate in favored windward areas this week, perhaps a bit drier Fri/Sat as a precipitable water minimum passes through the region and maybe into next week since the upper low center should stay to the northeast. By Tue of next week, the remnants of Blas should still be east of 150W per the latest models, but the latitude spread is large (about 15 deg). Fracasso
